Twenty‑Four Moons 🌙

Happy two years
twenty‑four moons circling the sky,
since the day I walked in hopeful,
quietly managing expectations shaped
by disappointments that taught me
not to dream too far ahead.
I told myself:
no effort, no fantasy,
be straight, be present
let truth arrive before longing.
Love is a strange creature:
the greatest joy,
the deepest tragedy,
all because we seek it.
It reveals itself only
to the pure, the kind, the gentle
to the soul who learns
to heal themselves
before opening to another.
Then you appeared
walking with confidence, with certainty,
with a mission that made me pause.
I buckled under your surety
the longest wait of my life
wondering if this was finally that moment.
I carried a decade of lessons,
forests walked,
worth rebuilt,
decisions deciphered.
An hour passed,
then another,
then a third
and I wanted more.
To soak in the moment,
to reconnect,
to rediscover all I had missed.
I felt you needed me again,
for you were always a little lost
outside of what we shared in every life.
Togetherness came naturally
all it took was the royal flush you played.
Twenty‑four moons later,
we’ve crossed potholes,
climbed mountains,
pushed boulders
sometimes alone,
sometimes together,
sometimes crushed beneath them.
You said,
“When two elephants fight,
only the grass gets damaged.”
And when I retreated
to my clouds and skies the solo eagle longing for a pair;
you stood as the wolf, loyal, protective, torn between duty and desire.
We are struggling with our love
because it is accepting each other’s dreams,
aligning even when we don’t understand,
surrendering to destiny and letting fate choose.
Love is unlearning trauma, relearning trust.
Love is choosing and having no choice at all.
And when you find yourself in that moment of surrender
That is only the beginning.
For three journeys open:
Yours, mine, and ours.
The strength of the third
depends on the work we pour into the first two.
Our adventure was only beginning.
