I have always dreamed of sharing my life’s stories — not the polished ones, but the real ones. Women don’t share enough. We share the victories, the curated moments, the parts shaped by vanity and expectation. But the truth — the grief, the lessons, the becoming — stays hidden for fear of judgement.

The path to a higher conscience comes through expression — through the courage to name what we feel, what we’ve lived, and who we are becoming. When women speak their truth, they don’t just heal themselves; they elevate the collective. Expression is how we rise. It is how we awaken. It is how we return to ourselves. That is how The Enlightened Girl was born: a space for real stories, about real women, for real women.

Life is a rollercoaster and time is fleeting. At 47, my life is a tapestry still being woven — each moment, each choice, each heartbreak and triumph adding colour, texture, and meaning. I am not finished. I am becoming.

I’ve learned that there are two kinds of people: givers and takers. Givers give without boundaries; takers take without boundaries. For years, I attracted takers — people who fed off my energy, my time, my heart. They learned, and then they left. To them I say: thank you for the lesson. I wish you well.

Through all of it, I have held onto love. I see love everywhere — in struggle, in grief, in endings, in boardrooms, in beginnings. Love is my North Star. I win with love. And while Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War, I have lived my own template: The Art of Love.

Before we begin this journey, let me introduce myself.

I am Sharon Naidoo (née Moodley). I have spent 25 years in the corporate world, the last twelve as a Chief Finance Officer and General Manager. I am the eldest of three siblings and the eldest grandchild on my maternal side — the first woman to go to university in one half of my family, and one of many academics in the other. Being the eldest meant carrying the hopes and dreams of a generation denied opportunity, education, and choice.

The Indian man often wants a son to carry his name. My father wanted a daughter to carry his heart. My grandfather wanted a granddaughter to carry his legacy. My family wanted a matriarch. And in the middle of all of that, I simply wanted to be Sharon.

I am the mother to the most beautiful human — my son, now eighteen.

I have loved deeply. Four relationships shaped me: one ended in religious difference, one in suicide, one in divorce, and one in ego In a past life, a promise was made to always find each other — a promise he kept. It took a long, painful journey to become the woman capable of attracting the man God intended for me. At 44, I found my soulmate, three and a half years later ended what could have been the greatest love story in my life so Love brought me here. Love taught me here. Love releases me here.

The Enlightened Girl

is where I will tell these stories — the ones women daren’t share: mental health, abuse, love, boardroom taboos, feminism, identity, leadership, and the quiet battles we fight alone. Life is unkind and beautiful at the same time. I want to explore the meaning and purpose of my own life, and hopefully inspire others to explore theirs.

As Shakespeare said, “the purpose of life is to give it away.”

This is me giving mine.
